Dear Craig,
Thank you for the opportunity to apply for the Video Technology Specialist position.
I began my career at AbelCine and worked my way up to being the only Camera Technician on staff who goes out on productions. I have gone out with teams and completely on my own on jobs that demand a high level of technical know‑how, and I am very comfortable troubleshooting in high‑stress situations — from talking on stage at Carnegie Hall three minutes before showtime to serving as Fiber Technician when Madonna took over Times Square. On that project ten cameras ran through me; if anything went wrong, I was the one who fixed it.
My time at AbelCine has made me deeply familiar with high‑end cinema cameras and all the systems that travel with them, including wireless video and fiber optic transmission. In fact, you have already entrusted me with your gear without knowing it: as we are currently building a flypack cart for your team at the Times.
I also bring a solid post‑production background. I worked as a colorist on LaCroix’s Sunshine flavor launch and led motion graphics for Portland General Electric’s internal requisition revamp. I am extremely comfortable across the Adobe Creative Cloud suite as well as DaVinci Resolve.
Outside of AbelCine I am passionate about sports production. I assist NFL Films as an Equipment Manager, traveling around the country to ensure camera gear arrives safely and to support camera crews on the field. In my free time I shoot for Rutgers as a freelance cinematographer, continually refining my skills on the football field.
I would welcome the chance to discuss the Video Technology Specialist role and how my hands‑on experience with camera systems, transmission, and post‑production can support your team. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
James Orr
